OK Go have found themselves in a lawsuit with Post Foods. The company has unveiled a new cereal product called OK Go! and are suing the band over the use of the name.

Post Foods has declared they have done nothing wrong, citing its approved trademark application for the name in 2022. According to the company, the United States Patent and Trademark Office did not find that the cereal name would cause confusion with the band.

In a statement to Billboard, the band said “A big corporation chose to steal the name of our band to market disposable plastic cups of sugar to children. That was an unwelcome surprise, to say the least. But then they sue US about it? Presumably, the idea is that they can just bully us out of our own name, since they have so much more money to spend on lawyers? I guess that’s often how it works, but hopefully, we’ll be the exception.”

OK Go’s attorney sent a cease-and-desist to Post Foods in September 2022, alleging that the cereal’s name would “suggest to consumers” that the band was endorsing the product.
